Dr. Urinov brings a wealth of academic rigor and specialized tax expertise to our law firm, offering clients highly sophisticated solutions on complex tax disputes, tax planning, and tax compliance.

Dr. Urinov is an Associate Professor of tax law at the University of New Brunswick Faculty of Law and he actively collaborates with Advotax Law as Special Counsel.

Dr. Urinov earned his PhD in tax law from McGill University. He also holds a Master of Laws (LL.M. in Finance) from Frankfurt University (Germany), alongside a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from Tashkent State University of Law (Uzbekistan), and completed a year-long academic research and exchange program at Nagoya University (Japan).

Prior to his collaboration with Advotax Law, Dr. Urinov worked with the Tax & Legal group at PwC Germany in its head office in Frankfurt am Main, where he advised on cross-border tax issues involving real estate projects.

Dr. Urinov's research and practice focus on domestic and cross-border tax compliance, foreign source income taxation, the Canadian general anti avoidance rule (GAAR), exchange of information between tax authorities, and base erosion and profit shifting (BEPS).
This combined academic and practical experience allows him to provide thoughtful, research-driven, and client-focused legal analysis on complex tax issues in both domestic and international contexts.

Dr. Urinov’s scholarly work has been published in leading peer-reviewed journals and international publications. He is the author of the book Taxation of Foreign-Source Income of Resident Individuals published in the IBFD Doctoral Series (2019) and a chapter contributor in Materials on Canadian Income Tax, a textbook widely taught in law schools across Canada.
Dr. Urinov provides legal services in English and Uzbek. He also has working knowledge of Russian, German and Japanese languages.
Dr. Urinov is practicing in association with Advotax Law as an independent contractor.
